Hangouts Issue

Ever since this new hangouts update came out, I'm having issues with getting the same notification multiple times. This is starting to drive me insane. My phone will vibrate and I'll go to check it and it's the same message I opened and read hours ago. Furthermore, it will also buzz 3-5 times for just one message making it seem like I'm getting a phone call. I've tried uninstalling the update and reinstalling and the problem persists. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Try going to the App Manager, select Hangouts, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now open it again and wait for it to sign back in. See if the problem persists.

I'd basically follow what B Diddy noted but instead I would clear data, uninstall and then reboot before reinstalling.
