If and when the update occurs and requires a hard reset, what happens to my apps?
My feels had the Palm Desktop and a file with all the backup including copies of the apps along with their corresponding data. What happens with Android/Google?

Frankly have no clue cause this is so new and we have not gone thru an update yet to make a judgement> Hope we dont lose any, but then again I am a dreamer. Unless we can download an app that will backup ALL from the droid.

Does anyone know if you have to exchange your Droid if you will be able to some how get the apps that you paid for on the new one?? I could care less about the free ones, I just want what I paid for...

The market place keeps record of what you've downloaded and paid for. so you should be able to reinstall them without issue.

you can use ASTRO manager to backup any installed apps to your SD card. Or you can pay for a program call AppManager to do something similar but I haven't used the later.

---updated---

there is also My Backup Pro and sprite backup which both backup all data and apps.

The market does remember the purchased apps indefinitely. However in my experience you will get exactly one chance to see a list of prior installed free apps after a hard reset. The first time (after hard reset) I viewed Market->My downloads it showed them all, but not subsequently. So be sure to copy down the list the first time.
