i think it fully installed or implemented the last downloaded update or something.

i just did hard reset and -

1. vibrate is now on for text messages. could not get to this work before.

2. "America/Detroit" is "Current" is now gone in World Clock.

3. reports of vastly improved battery life (still testing this).

settings----->privacy------>factory reset

yes everything on the device will be wiped.

i recommend mybackuppro for $5 from market. it will restore all apps, data, and MOST settings.

reserve time of about 30 minutes to get everything back the way you like it. BUT IMO the hard reset helped.

use with caution.

I got an update from Sprint without hard reset and I think it also did several changes and seems to help with battery life. Although I can't say I had battery life issues since I got Evo on Friday.

i got the update too on Fri at launch BUT i wonder if the hard reset helps fully implement/install the update?

kind of like OS and software apps updates on the PC - you need to "shut down and restart your PC for the update to take effect".

just a theory.

I AGREE with you, something wasnt acting right with my phone, weather now working properly and such, i did a hard reset lastnight and it working so much better now.

I still don't see how a hard reset will help implement an OTA update. Better yet, I don't see how it will affect battery life at all. If all apps are reinstalled with the same settings prior to the hard reset, the device should perform as it did before. Right?

I went ahead with the hard reset, and I don't know why, but my battery life is greatly improved. Before I couldn't even get thru half a day, now it gets me thru most of the day with moderate too heavy usage.

when you do this hard reset, does the phone work as normal right afterwards? I mean do I have to do anything other than setup the phone as normal?
