Hard screen protector

I just ordered a Nexus 4 cause my Droid X took a crap, the screen lifted up and now only half of the touch function works. I've seen videos and basically the screen on this thing is like an egg, drop it and it's done so I'm trying to find something like a hard plastic screen protector and I haven't had any luck which leads me to believe they probably don't exist. I have no use for a flimsy thin film to prevent scratches, I don't care about scratches I care about shattered glass and rendering the phone useless. I also don't care if a case makes the phone 5 inches thick either, so if anyone knows of any legit screen protector can you point me in that direction? I would appreciate any help, thanks.

Hate to burst your bubble but.... screen protectors of any kind aren't going to protect your phone if you drop it. I have a Nexus 4. I have nothing on it, but then again I'm careful. I've had it since December. What you are going to want is a case that will fully cover the phone.... if you want to go that route. The phone is NOT as fragile as you may have heard. The case I use is a just carrying case that goes on my belt.... nothing more.

I hear you, my search has ended in a failure to find anything like I described so I'm just gonna have to deal with it. I was hoping I'd find like a thin hard plastic type protector but it doesn't seem that they exist. I've seen a thread on here where a guy's N4 busted from a 1.5 foot fall, I don't drop my phone but if they are that fragile it would be peace of mind. I ordered the Ballistic case though, seems to have high reviews guess we will see! thanks for the reply.

Just buy a good carrying case. When you have your Nexus 4 out be AWARE of your surroundings. I will usually lean it over something. Very rarely will I just stand with it and type with nothing between the phone and the floor. That's a good rule for any high end phone.

If you drop something made out of glass, it can break regardless of the height. I have dropped my Nexus 4 off the kitchen table onto a linoleum floor without a case and not a scratch. It all depends on how the phone hits the ground. I have the Ringke Fusion case on mine now with the stock screen and back protectors. I don't believe this phone is any more fragile than any other. Just because it has a glass back dosen't mean one drop and it is done. I broke my Droid 2 with a 10 inch fall onto concrete, my Thunderbolt tossing it onto my bed and hitting my Xoom. Any phone can shatter being dropped at any height onto any surface. Either you need a good solid case, or insurance.

I also have been looking for the same thing with not much luck.

The only ones I found with a hard screen cover also have holsters, and that is OK with me:

Seido makes several, with the "Convert with Metal Kickstand Value Pack" having the best front glass protection. If you get approved for the loan you will need from the bank to buy it, it looks really nice:

SEIDIO | LG Nexus 4

Or the junky one with no shock protection, lack of top and bottom coverage, and poor ratings about broke parts, that I bought until something better comes along:

Amazon.com: Amzer AMZ95268 Shellster Holster Combo Case Cover for Google Nexus 4 E960/LG Nexus 4 E960 - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

EDIT: Actually I canceled the above order because it was on back-order, and I just ordered the following as recommended by others on another forum:

All Black Rugged Hard Case Belt Clip Holster Stand Cover for LG Nexus 4 E960 | eBay
