Hardcore Android Guy Returns Xoom

ok fanboy. just cause i disagree automatically makes me a troll? i already picked up the ipad 2 (mainly for my daughter) and im picking up the xoom wifi for work when its available. no biased fanboy comments here.

and no... the experience is not similar. good enough, yes. if you werent such a fanboy... you would see it.

I turned the brightness up to 100% when I got mine home, its still a dull color, not has vivid as my samsung tablet or my ipad 1... kinda erks me they did not make the graphics better, but overall I love the xoom

First, troll alert! I just say it as I see it, after looking at your history of comments.

Second, just tun up the brigjtness of the screen. Apple drives the LEDS at 100%, as a matter of course. If you up the brigjtness in the XOOM, the experience will be similar. Of course the screen on the XOOM is higher resolution, but other than that, it will be equivalent.

I'm an ex-Apple guy. Had the first three iPhones. Moved to Andriod last April. Android is better, period.

Stop trolling.

I agree with you 100% here, the experience is alot different on both devices. The Xoom has widgets and displays webpages alot differently than the Ipad 2 does, overall I liked the tabbed browsing much better than the Ipad's and webp[ages seemed easier to read. The screen on the Ipad 2 is a bit brighter than the Xoom, but that being said the Xoom's screen was easier on the eyes. UI is the big thing here. Ipad 2 is all about displaying every app you've dowloaded, just as it's always been. Quick and easy to get to, where as with the Xoom you can customise the home screen any way you want, with the app tray just above the homescreen for easy access. All in all it all comes down to this, what do YOU want from YOUR device. we can't sit here and argue which one is better than the other. It's all in what you prefer to do with your tab that makes it great.

These are 2 great products from 2 huge manfacturers, I personally think whichever one any of us pick we will be happy with them. I personally am on the fence right now as to which one to actually buy.

I have pad one and pad number two... mentioned early on that the xoom screen was not as vibrant. Its true but guess which pad I keep grabbing first.... it starts with x. Some of the same reasons my viphone is gathering dust to my Droid x ... the x displays info in the way I want or I am able to customize for my needs. On 4.3 pad number two I am still so locked into how Steve wants ios to look and function.

Was in a meeting today with an associate who has an iPad2. We sat them side by side. I turned the brightness up on the XOOM all the way... a setting I do not enjoy. Neither one of us saw an appreciable difference. Colors were well rendered on both units. We called it a draw.

Maybe it's because we're both 50-somethings and our eyes aren't what they once were? I doubt that, but clearly you guys are seeing something I, or my associate, don't.

One thing I'll admit is 50-somethings can't tell the difference in resolution. We have to hold our phones so far from our heads all screens are "retina" screens. :-)

But as for the XOOM's screen (with reading glasses), it's great. I flew back from Singapore on Monday, reading, watching movies, surfing the web, doing e-mails. Even wrote some code. Zero eye strain... zero.
