I talked to a salesman at att and he said they have not sold many, because there is hardly any marketing. There also isn't a forum at xda and hardly any interest there. And there are hardly any videos on YouTube. And there are hardly any reviews out there.

It seems odd because it's such a great device. imho

I'm not surprised. The smartwatch market is still a baby. Not a lot of people even know how to use it or how to incorporate it in their daily lives. It's cool tech that people don't get.

As for XDA, there's no developer support for this watch which is why it's dead as a doornail over there. I think I saw an article that shows how to root this device, but I don't want to be a guinea pig because I couldn't find a way to bring it back to stock. I need my safety net to even do that.

The reason why they are tops in both Smartphone and Smartwatches is because they market the crap out of it. They don't need word of mouth marketing as much as the other companies. And other manufacturers don't have or are not willing to put in money for advertisements or other marketing tools. Shoot, it took LG a couple of weeks to even have this device on their website after relaunch.

Apple shows people how its products can make thier lives better. Google makes cool products and expects that people will buy it.

Even Apple is having a tough time getting folks to buy thier watch. FitBit outsells iWatch by a wide margin because it does something people find useful, it's inexpensive, and it's easy to use.

The U2 costs $350 plus another $10-30/mo and requires a master's degree in technology to operate it. All the marketing in the world couldn't save it from niche status destiny.

Most AW watches on the market today sells for around $350 without cellular radio. The monthly cellular plan is optional, not a must. If I'm not mistaken, other AW watches like Moto, Huawei. sell pretty well.

The problem with this one is that LG had to recall the previous version and has shied away from advertising it ever since. LG itself pretended this watch never existed.

There is no requirement to have a cell plan on the watch.
You can add one, but it can be as simple as a $3.00 a month T-Mobile pay as you go plan. That's what I am using.
A technology degree? Pair it and it just works.

The lack of interest or marketing more importantly worries me as I'm really wanting this watch to become available here in the UK. The 1st Urbane is readily available but not this one yet. Sooo frustrating

There is a super long thread about it on XDA called "why is there not LTE thread", but people started posting here more than there since November, so in this particular case, the AW forums are just doing better. Not sure why LG decided to not market it again after the re-release. It's all a bit bizarre. I still use my Nov edition and don't even believe them that there was a hardware issue. Something fishy is going on there.

The US version should work over there no problem, mine worked in continental EU without a hitch with EU sim cards. I just never got LTE speeds, obviously. At least you know you have the option to import and it will work.

LG didn't do themselves any favor with the name of the device. "Urbane" isn't very catchy. Urbane 2nd Edition LTE......don't even get me started. I've owned the watch for 6 days and I'm already sick of answering the "is that an iWatch question because I have to say a paragraph to say what watch I own. Gear S2 rolls off the tongue a lot easier too.
But I love the watch so far!
