Hello all, has anyone here purchased a PH-1 that didn't come with the headphone adapter in the box? My phone was brand new, outer box still sealed wrapped in plastic from the factory but 1) did not have the audio adapter in the box, and 2) the back of the box that lists what's included had the words headphone audio adapter covered. I just think it's strange why Essential would ship a bunch of phones without the adapter. The person I bought it from had 90 of these all like that. I did ask Essential through email, providing the IMEI number if the phone was new and not a refurbished or return and they replied it was new and full warranty and never activated and was not a return.

If you bought it from a third party, it’s possible that they removed the earphones to sell them separately and resealed the box (which isn’t hard to do and make it look genuine).

If I were you, I’d return it and get the phone from either Essential directly or your carrier.

Essential has a perforated sticker that you could tell if it was opened. Likely a fluke. All devices typically are still hand packaged at the factory. Likely human error at the origination.

OP said the person had 90 of those. It doesn’t look like human error to me.

^Correct the factory perforated seal is about impossible to open then reseal correctly to look like the phone was never opened and the strip covering the words "headphone audio adapter" are cut perfectly, and are all the same perfectly aligned and all the exact same size and color and are beneath the plastic outer wrap not on top of it. Seems like way to much trouble to meticulously reseal the perforated strip, which honestly doesn't look like it could be done without actually having a brand new seal to replace it with, and re-wrap the outer box just to sell some headphone adapters. Doesn't seem profitable at all even for 1 phone nevertheless for 90 of them. Time to do all that vs profit. They sell the adapter new for $15 on Essential, so if pulling them out of a box and selling them loose, the seller would have to sell them for less plus mailing cost plus re-wrap and replace the perforated seal . Sounds like a lot of trouble for very little profit.

That's an adapter for a phone with the DAC inside the phone. If someone is going to the trouble of faking new, unopened phones, he might be selling them as "adapter with DAC", which at one time sold for quite a premium. (They're so common now that they're under $20, so it wouldn't pay any longer.)

That's what I thought also, way to much trouble plus that seal that is perforated on the phone box would be pretty hard to fake that it wasn't open. I guess for what I paid I can't complain. The guy has a long history selling on eBay, has zero negative reviews, and seems to be in the smartphone business. He did finally change the description in his eBay listing stating " these phones are brand new, sealed from Essential. These phones DO NOT COME WITH A HEADPHONE ADAPTER"
