Just saw i have an update and it will change the battery icon to green if of the phone is okay to use. I know mine isn't but has anyone else done the update and if so did it change the battery limit to 60% like overseas or do anything else to limit the phone?

Waiting to return mine but just curious if anyone else did the update

Care to share which carrier or Note 7 version you're using? T-Mobile version here, no update showing up yet.

Does the update description specifically say that it'll turn the icon green? That was never confirmed, IIRC.

I'm on Verizon. Just looked and this popped up. Gonna update now and see what happens.

Carlo, you have the replacement or original phone?

This update is very slow installing. :-\

If your phone did not blow up before it just might while getting this update. This is the hottest I've ever felt this phone.:(

Hope this does not brick my phone.

That was South Korea only.

It's been reported that, that was the same for the green battery icon. Now we're seeing it everywhere else, so it's quite possible that they battery cap will be pushed out to everyone. I think it's a smart move by Samsung. Can't completely "disable all affected devices" but they can certainly identify them, and force the user's hand to comply with the recall.

This is the same time for the Korea update and similar description. I turned off updates, so will not see this one. This could be the 60% cap as well. Final push to get people off their Note 7's. ;) If the update can distinguish an update with green symbol, it can cap the charge just as easily.

Seems a given they would not openly state it drops to 60% charge for recalled devices. Plus, if you complain they will tell you it is a recalled device. Might be a lot of mad folks until they get replacements- IF the 60% cap is in the update.

I really hoped they wouldn't go with the green battery icon :( That just won't look right with the rest of the 'white', and I assume themes won't be able to override it either. :(

I kind of think it would look cool with the material black theme :)

Not if it's the only green blemish on your whole theme! If there were other elements that matched, then OK, but having just ONE element in bright green is probably not the best thing to have staring at you all the time.

Not going to update mine since already know I have a recalled device and not chancing getting 60% charge cap Nope. Could wait another two weeks for replacement since 9/21 is the start date- not completions date.

OK, No new green icons for my original Note 7 after the update.
Now to charge it and see if it is gimped to only 60%
