Has anyone ever gotten Verizon to sell the network extender for lower than $175?

Android Central doesn't block anyone from reading the forums - it is an open forum . Also I always assumed that Verizon was reading what is posted

Guess it's not possible to block Verizon reps from reading AndroidCentral, even if you wanted to. They can just use different IP addresses. At the company I worked for, they had a private VPN service that allowed employees to monitor customer forums from IP addresses that could only be traced back to the private VPN service.

I''ll just have to make sure I don't double post here and then on Verizon's own forums. (or at least changes the questions to avoid being detected by Verizon reps) :D

I assume Verizon's rep was able to contact me by phone because my Verizon forum ID was linked to my actual email address that's linked to my actual Verizon account, which obviously has all my Verizon phone numbers. Still, I don't recall ever giving them permission to contact me by phone when I signed up for their own forums. Guess I shouldn't complain, since they are giving me a $250 network extender for $0 to keep forever. I'll complain about something else when Verizon does something stupid in the future.(which shouldn't be a long wait.... perhaps something new in 2016 to discourage people from keeping unlimited data? :D )

It's good they're reading. Gives them real life product reviews.

Too bad there isn't a bank customer forum where I can complain.... otherwise the bank's reps will probably offer to send me some new free money. :D :D :D

I got mine free by complaining so much about the cell signal in my area they gave me one.

I told them I am not paying to use my power, my bandwidth, and a port on my router to host their small cell tower. The one I got at the time can't be locked down to just allow my phones on. I can make it so they have priority but that is it.

I was told the current one operated like that as well. Any Verizon customer within 30 to 50 feet can hop on the network extender. Doesn't really matter to me because my home internet connection(cable modem) is still unlimited.

That sounds really weird. I've had two different ones. Both of them, by default, allow any Verizon customer to connect. But, I could login to my VZW account and manage them and lock them down to only allow connections from numbers I setup. The key to this is that the NE has to be attached to your account by VZW. If you get your NE directly from VZW they are supposed to do that automatically I bought both of mine on CL and had to call VZW to get them to connect each one to my account. The first one was no problem because it was not connected to any account. The second one was a problem because it was still connected to the PO's account. VZW had to call them and confirm with the PO that they sold it and it should not be attached to their account any more.

The free network extender was delivered by FedEx this morning. I'll see if I have time to set it up when I get home later tonight. :)
