Has anyone found a Nexus 6P replacement battery source?

This is an update on the battery I bought from Newegg. It's a Huawei battery & I believe it's the OEM replacement. a local cell phone repair shop charged me $25 to replace the battery yesterday & I charged it overnight. So far today--it's now 3:21 in the afternoon, my battery is @ 80%. Before I replaced the battery, the old one in the phone would be flat by 11:00 am. My earlier post didn't have a correct link to the battery @ Newegg. Here it is: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ery-_-9SIA7JK54A2554-_-Product&token=UHE5CtP-

Another update: The Newegg batter is an OEM replacement. I just looked at my old battery & compared it to the picture on Newegg & the Newegg is identical to the one that came out of the phone.

I'll have my battery changed in one of our phoneshops in a few days (the OEM replacement is currently ordered by that shop and not delivered yet). They charge 45,- € for battery and replacement, tax and all. I just give em my phone for two hours and can wait for it.
No big hussle.

how was the replacement process. Is there a guide you used that you can share?

So I just bought my Nexus 6p brand new but from an individual who had bought it new from Google but never even opened the box so it's never been used or even turned on. My question is this. Since he purchased it brand new but the original warranty has expired can a battery that has never been used still degrade? If it was never turned on or opened up then technically the battery should still retain it's original new status, correct? I'm trying to worked this out in my head so I'm thinking since he never even opened the box therefore the battery never saw any one day of use even though it had just been sitting there new in box before I bought it then is it even possible for that unused battery to still degrade any? My hopes are that it would not have degraded any since it was never even turned on therefore there is no typical wear and tear on the battery at all. I mean how could it degrade if it hadn't ever been used? I'm trying to find out since my Nexus 6p was still sealed in the box that I'll roughly be okay for at least two years from a couple of days ago when I was the first one to open the box and actually charge it because it was definitely dead from just sitting there new in the box for that long with absolutely zero usage. Will I in theory be good to go then for the roughly next two years of typical battery life or should I be looking now for a replacement battery even though it was brand new? I just don't see how a battery that has never been used before would still degrade over time since there was never even a single charge to the battery. I mean the pastic was still on my new 6p. If anyone can give me advice on this it would greatly be appreciated. However I did though get a deal of a lifetime on it as it's the 64g brand new sealed in box and I paid $150 for it. Even if I had to replace the battery I'm so far ahead of the value game that the deal was definitely still worth it. I'm just thinking though since it had never had a single charge made to it so that means there was zero wear and tear to the battery that it should indeed be a good battery and I shouldn't have to worry about a bad battery in theory correct? Any advice is definitely appreciated.

If it charged up, that's a good sign. Lithium batteries can be unstable if charged when they have dropped below a certain voltage. Circuitry internal to the battery prevents charging in that case and renders the battery completely dead. Time degrades batteries a small amount, but charging cycles are the major wear on a battery.

In constant use for the last two years, my Nexus 6p battery is down to 68% of its original capacity. Yours should be nowhere near that bad.

In the past, I was an upgrade-every-year type. Part of that was because I used Samsung phones and wanted to upgrade to the latest OS. Last year, when the Pixel came out, it was a little better than the 6P in a few ways, but not enough to overcome its high price and homely looks.

This year, the situation is worse. The Pixel 2 XL seems to have an inferior display and lacks the 3.5mm audio port. I have 10 Bluetooth headsets. I like them better than wired headsets. But there are times you can't use them (on a plane, for example) or when the headsets you have with you have dead batteries. On my various sets, the batteries last from minimum of 2.5 hours to a max of 7.5 hours.

With my battery down to 68% of capacity, I'm definitely looking at replacing the battery, and getting another year out of my 6p. The screen is still top notch. The camera is supposedly not as good as the pixel/pixel2, but it is so good I can hardly complain. The phone is plenty fast for everything I do, and I come nowhere near filling the 64GB of memory. Aside from the battery, I feel no need to upgrade for the next year.

I guess at this point I care much more about OS upgrades than about hardware upgrades. I can't go back to Samsung (or any other maker) because I don't want to wait for OS upgrades. So I'll enjoy my audio jack for another year and hope that Bluetooth headsets have improved in the next year when I can buy a (hopefully-less-ugly) pixel 3xl.

I had a great experience at a UbreakiFix store. 18 minutes R/R and $80 for a OEM battery. That was back in July 2017 and with Oreo 8.0 update since, it's like a new phone. I'm sure feeling like I'll have another 18 months use out of it. No need to dump $$ for a new phone when I've always had no issues with this 6P. (fingers crossed)

Still eyeballing the GP 2 though. Waiting to see how the screen issues and other assorted early snafus work out.

I have a cracked front glass, just a line that goes up and loops back down. Do you guys think that replacing the battery will be possible with a cracked class or will the process of taking this all apart just rip up the glass? the actual AMOLED panel and touch sensors behind it are 100% functional.

I had a different experience. I dropped my 6P off for a battery replacement and was told it would be a couple of hours. It actually took 6-7 hours but that wasn't a big deal. The problem was being kept in the dark and I had to keep calling to find out when I could get my phone.

The work was also pretty shoddy. The back cover was gouged up pretty bad and the lower plastic cover on the rear wasn't seated properly. I had to ask that the cover be re-seated. And it was only after I asked about the gouges did they offer to knock $20 off the replacement cost.

I took it to UbreakiFix because I thought I'd have a "leave no trace" experience. If I wanted a clumsy and sloppy job I would have done it myself. I now have a Pixel 2 and will not be taking it to a UbreakiFix shop if I can avoid it.

I took mine to UBreakIFix on Saturday and had them replace the battery as I was experiencing the early power off issue and poor battery performance. Total was $89 and after 2 hours it was as good as new (so far). The only signs of wear is the bottom back trim piece is a little marked up with them having to peel it off to get to the screws. I hope you get another year or two out of it.

Changed mine today. I think I would have taken it to a repair shop if I’d realised quite what a pain is was going to be. Quite difficult to get it apart without some marks and needs a lot of patience.

It might be hard to replace the battery on the Nexus 6P but it's not impossible. Check out the repair on iFixit. If that seems a little bit beyond your technical skills you can have a compnay do it for you if it might be beyond your skillset. Google RxTech Repair Nexus 6P battery replacement. They do the repair for about $70 which is a whole lot cheaper than buying a new phone.
