Has anyone here converted their AT&T A9 to the USA unlocked version?

I am done waiting for AT&T to release an update for this phone. I want to convert mine to the USA unlocked version. I know the gist of what I need to do.

1. OEM Unlock the phone using HTCs web utility (done once before but I've since relocked it)
2. S-Off the device using Sunshine
3. Change the modelid and cid from AT&T to unlocked
4. Install the latest unlocked RUU (which I've already downloaded)
5. Profit

Now as I said that's the gist. I am lost technically on steps 2 and 3. Which do I do first? How do I change the codes? I am good with flashing ROMs on Nexus and OPO devices, this A9 is my first Android HTC device and cost me a pretty penny so I don't want to screw it up. Help me out if you can or point me to a good tutorial somewhere else if you know of one.

Installing an RUU not designed for the phone could hard-brick it. It's not just the ROM that's different between versions.

Thanks for the reply Rukbat. I don't want to take the phone to another carrier, I want to install the USA Unlocked firmware. There is a fantastically detailed and complete repository of RUU files at XDA, once I get the MID and CID changed to the right codes I can safely install the latest RUU. I just can't get to the point where I write the new codes.

Just to nail this thread shut I did eventually convert my device. It was super easy after all and I am so glad I did. Mods, you can lock this one down.

I converted mine last month.Thanks you youtube. finally got to update it 157. now just waiting on the nougat release for a9. this will be the last carrier phone i ever get. gonna buy outright unlocked from the company

I just wish it didn't cost me $25 to do it, but I suppose it was an easy price to pay to correct my mistake in getting a carrier model device.
