Has anyone successfully synced a Samsung gear s3 to Sony Xperia XA2

[Android Central Question]

I know the phone is not on the compatibility list but that's not always a definite failure so I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully synced the Xperia XA2 with the Samsung S3 Gear Frontier?

Also, I have a back up plan in the form of an iPad Air 2 (sorry I know it's not Android), would that do the job?
