I have a portable battery pack that I can carry if I think I may not be able to recharge my phone (or tablet) before it dies. Another benefit is that it is not limited to one phone.

Yeah I have a mophie for the exact same issue, but hardly ever use it. I think my kids use it more than I do for their iPhones.

Another thing i found was the screen rotation. I don't like having it on because it would rotate when i didn't want it to most of the time, but it was nice to be able to just pull down the notification bar at the top and turn it on if i were watching a video or something that needed it. But on the moto x you have to go into the settings in order to change it.

Search for Power Toggles in the Play Store. It will let you put things like that in the pull down menu of pretty much any Android device. I run it on the Tablet (Xperia Tablet Z) that I'm using to post right now.
