has anyone tethered with Sprint HTC Touch + a Display Question

I have a urgent need for a laptop replacement. I use the LT mostly for content viewing and my desktop of serious input. I really was impressed with the Xoom at the Vz store as BB has ran of stock locally. My main questions is can I tether my Xoom with my Sprint HTC Shift? I really don?? want to be stuck with another recurring cost for a want and not a need.
My second question is as I checked out the Xoom I compared it to the IPAD and the Xoom screen looked not as vivid & clear as the IPAD. Was this just a screen brightness affect or am I correct?
I know, I know we all hate apple?s I just looking for additional input.

There is a chance that your phone will be able to tether to the XOOM simply by connecting them over bluetooth, the thread below is all about that

as far as the screen is concerned, my xoom is very clear, i havent had it directly adjacent to an ipad so i cant compare, but it has not been a problem for me at all

I'd also like to add that I have my xoom's brightness set at the lowest at all times
