Has anyone tried loading Moto Display onto another manufacturer?

As my phone is aging, and I've recently had some minor hiccups I've been looking at the current and upcoming crop of phones to select something that might replace my aging Moto X Pure. I've posted in the "what would you replace it with" thread, and looked at multiple comparison threads.

However while I haven't decided yet on the next device, I AM curious if anyone here happened to load, or attempt to load the Moto Display app on a non-Motorola phone. IF you attempted it, how did it work?

Ultimately it is what it is, and if I move to a non-Motorola I might lose the moto display. Although if I knew the display works alright on.. say a pixel, or oneplus.. that would be helpful information.

Honestly, you need to get a phone that has an OLED display; this will allow the phone to only turn on the pixels it needs when the always-on display is running; if you have something else(like IPS or something) it will KILL your battery.

Honestly, Pixel 2 has a good always-on display, but if you want to try the Motorola one, it won't hurt anything..
Here is the APK:
