Has anyone here come from using a gear s2 ,how's your experience?

I had the gear s2 but I returned it because of some issues,it was my first smartwatch and I liked it ,besides the issues, I was looking at the Moto watch 2nd Gen and I wasn't really feeling it,but I didn't get to play with it,so if you have come from a gear s2 is it a good experience?

Your feedback is appreciated.

I actually picked up the S2 the day it came out and just happened to receive my Moto 360 2 the same day, so I was really able to play with them side by side.

I really like the S2, but it certainly has some fatal flaws, the most obvious is S-Voice. It's just terrible compared to Google, very limited as to what it can do and very slow even when it can do it. The UI on the S2 is amazing, probably it's best feature in my opinion, very fast and fluid, much more so than the Moto. Also, the S2's screen is awesome, definitely small compared to the Moto, but very nice looking and higher resolution. Side by side it's noticeable, but just wearing the Moto by itself, it looks great.

That being said, I really think the Moto (or Android Wear) is better in a lot of ways that count for me. The notifications are much more simple and obvious, you don't have to go look for them like on the S2. Replying or dismissing is just a swipe or a quick talk, very quick and intuitive. Also, a HUGE plus for the Moto is the Google Now integration. You will get Now notifications on the S2, but nothing more. With the Moto you will get the full benefit of Now and it's really amazing. One other thing that drove me nuts with the S2 was when listening to music on my phone; once you are listening to music and the watch returns to the home screen, you will have to navigate back to the music app to do anything! Every time you want to skip a track, change the volume, or even pause it when somebody walks in, you have to tap the screen, rotate the bezel to find the app, and then do what you wanted. Got old VERY quickly. With the Moto, your music is front and center the whole time your music is playing. You don't even have to do change screen to pause or play, really nice.

Anyway, long story short, returning my S2 tomorrow, and keeping the Moto. Hope that helps!

Thanks I really appreciate it, yeah there was some annoyances with the s2,like you.mentioned, how about like tracking your exercise is the Moto pretty good at it?

I've looked at YouTube videos but it's mostly impressions haven't really found a detailed review that's why I'm asking.

Fitness tracking seems to work just great. I use Google Fit instead of the Moto Body stuff, mostly because Fit integrates with other fitness apps such as Runkeeper and whatnot. But I think it's pretty good, and it's nice because the watch and phone sync with each other. So if you go on a walk around the block wearing your watch but without your phone, when you get home the watch will sync with your phone and add in that activity. Pretty cool. Heart rate seems to work fine, can't tell you how accurate it actually is, but it's fine for my needs. Also, the Moto now has a smart lock, so if you take off your watch and then try to interact with it, it'll ask you for a password.

Watching videos and reading reviews are good, but I think your decision will be made after a few days with the device. I was sold on the S2 after watching videos and seeing them flip through menus and stuff with the rotating bezel, it looks amazing! But at the end of the day is just didn't do what I want and think it should do. The Moto on the other hand is very simplistic and intuitive, at least for me. Both good things in a smartwatch...

Thanks yeah,I'm kinda thinking of getting one to try it out and see how it is,the gear s2 tracking wasn't that great so I'll see what's up thanks man I appreciate it.

The experience with the S2 seems to be as limited as it was on the original Gear S. People just don't realize how pathetic a smartwatch is without Google Now. It's just not very smart, but more of an app launcher.

That's why I got a cheap LG G Watch while I waited for the 360 v2, and my $300 Gear S went in a drawer.

It was my first smartwatch so I had nothing to compare it to.

I came from the S2. I returned it and kept my 360 for the following reasons

1. S voice is terrible
2. I did not like the notification management
3. App support was poor

I would have gladly kept it if those 3 things were on par with AW.

Thanks, I'm going to try the Moto I think, I'll just have to get used to the flat tire, and if I don't like it ,it might be the end of the road for me and smartwatches.

I'm also thinking of getting the 360 since I didn't like the S2 but there are a couple of things that have me hesitant. First is the shift Motorola is making in software support on its devices. While I'm sure that they will support the new 360 for a while I don't like the path they are choosing with other products. The second is the "speaker" that the Huawei watch has and the cellular connectivity of the watch Urbane 2. These two products seem to suggest to me that there might be a major update to android wear in the near future and I want to make sure anything I buy isn't rendered obsolete quickly. While I don't have the desire to make calls from my wrist for $300+ I don't want to miss out on any new features that may be introduced soon.

I bought mine today from best buy and I'm going to pick it up when they open, if I don't like it I'm probably giving up on the whole smartwach thing, with how fast technology evolves it always seems like what you buy is obsolete in a few months unfortunately

I scooped up my moto 360 v2 from best buy today and even though it looks really nice and classy I have experienced lag and it getting kinda hot, but I'm going to give it a week if I like it it stays, if I don't I quit smart watches for the meantime.

Moto 360 is definitely a beautiful watch. only a couple hours in with it but I see it more as a fashion accessory than something I would use as a sports tracker

I agree. I was on the fence between the two, but the s2 felt a little 'cheap' to me despite the cool navigation dial. Plus, I'm not sure if I like Tinzen over the google now integration.

question though, how do you get Google Fit on the 360? for some reason I'm not seeing it any my list of apps :'( I definitely want it on the 360 for all the reasons you stated

I went all over trying to buy the s2 watch I was dying to give samsung my money I looked everywhere drove to 5 bestbuy locations and finally looked online I had enough I called samsung and went off on them told them they don't want our money they had no clue about the s2 the lady on the other end of the phone seemed clueless and careless she didn't have anything to say so I told her you guys don't want to compete with Apple or all the other smartwatches out there told her I'm buying lg urban watch so I did I love the lg watch now going to buy moto 360 2nd generation and waiting on asus zenwatch 2 rubber band.

I currently have the Samsung gear S2 and I'm thinking of returning it and getting the moto 360. My only issue is that I heard that the Huawei watch has a speaker hidden inside of it that might start working after the next update. I'm not sure if the Moto 360 had this too.

Nobody's opened a 360 up yet, but the fact that the Zen Watch 2 has been found to possess a speaker as well gives me hope the 360 will. I can't imagine that everyone would have gotten the memo except for Motorola, but we'll see. The only thing I'd like a speaker for is Google Now replies and navigation directions.

Sorry for the late reply, wasn't paying attention I guess...

I actually had the same problem with Fit, it was installed on my phone, but wasn't showing on my watch! Luckily Fit backs up the cloud automatically, so I just uninstalled the app on my phone, downloaded it again from the Play Store, logged in and all my stuff was there, then restarted my watch and boom, it was there too! Hopefully that'll work for you too.

Is is just me or did the "resync apps" thing in the Android Wear app disappear with the latest update? I was assuming that's all I needed to do, but I could find a way to resync!

I had the Gear S2 and returned it after a few days because of problems with notifications. The watch would vibrate for incoming calls but not for anything else. All the setups were correct and it should have been working. I google'd the problem, and it seems a number of folks are having the same (or similar) issues with it. Now I have the Moto 360 2nd gen and it does everything I need it to do, plus I like the look of it more than the S2. That rotating bezel is cool though, I must say.

I started this thread, I went from a gear s2 to the Moto 360 2,and now have the huawei watch the 360 had a lot of hiccups that just made me question the price, the huawei is also expensive but it hasn't given me the problems I had with the 360 I also miss the rotating bezel on the s2 and i preferred the size of the strap the 360 uses but the huawei is really nice and snappy. Every watch seems to have an advantage over the other at the end of the day it comes down to preference.
