Has Samsung lost some of it's "power"?

A lot of fanciful thinking going on in this thread. As an Android fan, not loyal to any one brand, you are kidding yourselves if you think the One will make any kind of dent in S4 sales. You are also delusional if you think the S3 and soon the S4 only sells because of marketing. Both phones equal or better HTC and EVERY other phone available in benchmarks AND real world performance. The Galaxy phones talk the talk as well as walk the walk.

Review units are being received, embargoes are being lifted and phones are being shipped. By the end of the week, early next week the interwebs and airwaves will be filled with S4 chatter and hype. The S4 will sells 10s of millions of units and further put Samsung as the chief competitor to Apple and unless Apple gets its **** together may become ever more ubiquitous than the iPhone itself.

At least through sense 4+ sense was the definition of bloated and laggy. The evo couldn't multitask to save it's life. Tw isn't prefect but I don't feel like it hinders the experience like Sense did.

But if you compare modern TW to modern Sense, I still find that TW is a bit more laggy, bloated, etc.

AT&T, sprint and tmobile all just bumped up the release date for the S4 by a few days. Either Sammy is nervous about the One or they are simply looking to crush HTC. I think the latter but time will tell.

There's plenty of people in the same boat with htc and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. The galaxy series didn't get to where it is by being a horribly inferior device like people want to pretend it is, and htc didn't get into it's current predicament by being awesome.

The one won't significantly impact s4 sales but I think it's a really important device. I think it will bring htc back to relevance (or at least go a long way towards doing so) and for better or worse I think it will impact the design of future galaxy phones. There's already rumors of an aluminum case on the next note (could be interesting).

Agreed people shouldn't be ignorant and zoned into only one manufacturer, however there's a lot of snobiness right now from the htc camp.

Samsung has lost none of it's power. BUT it has gotten fearful of HTC, which is definitely a good thing. The One is splendid, and everyone I have shown it to, either iPhone 5 or S3 owners, fawn over it and want to drop their phone immediately.

Fine, we'll compare GS3 TW (terrible, bloated, laggy) to Sense 4 (meh, multi-tasking issues, etc.)

Either way AOSP wins.

HTC's first software update caused that issue and they knew about it, pulled the update but did nothing for the people who already had it.

I went through 4 or 5 evos before I ditched htc entirely. I expect their support to improve with the one but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I love my Note so that's where I'm at.

Samsung is good but they are way over hyped and way to many people Lost In Space on the Galaxy. I really would like to see them be more creative with their devices but looks like they are going to run the Galaxy Series into the ground. Folks will realize like most do that there are Always other options out there and I always tell my users to use what you like. So if you like Samsung that great but never be afraid to try other manufactures as well like HTC. Just my 2 cents.

You don't want creativity. Every ounce of creativity gets thrown in the dirt and called "gimmicky". Even IF there was an amazing creative invention from Samsung, your HTC pride wouldn't allow you to give it the credit. So don't set the trap and then act like you sincerely want something out of them. Nothing they do will ever escape your trap. And i've said this before, but I actually REALLY want the HTC One and the S4 doesn't interest me. So before you go off accusing me of some blind Samsung love keep that in mind.
