Has the Black been officially announced? My guess is this one.

Re: Has the Black been officially announced? My guess is this one

Too bad Sprint changed the box to an ordinary one (compare to this unboxing video to see what I mean: LG Optimus Black unboxing and hardware tour - YouTube VM will probably just use a plain brown wrapper! :p

I checked the Marquee memory specs on the Sprint site:

I looks as if Bob of wirefly.com was incorrect about the 4 GB internal memory.

It still looks like a very nice phone and I look forward to it becoming part of VM's line up. (I've yet to see any end user reviews of the phone, though.)

That unboxing is quite impressive. It's nice to see LG giving attention to such things.

I was able to get some hands on time with the Marquee today. Had to call several Sprint stores to find one. The first store I called said that the Marquee was only on AT&T .

Anyways, it does indeed have 4GB internal memory. 2GB micro SD + 2.87GB available storage in the phone. I have to say, I was underwhelmed. :'( It is really thin, and light as said by anyone who has seen one. But, the interface was lagging a lot. It was using the grass live wallpaper, so I changed it to a static one. Still, not much improvement. My OV feels more responsive. It's pretty much stock Gingerbread; with the exception of Spring ID.

I really wanted to like this phone; here's hopping it's just a software issue

Compare a stock OV to an stock clocked Harmonia, it's surprising the difference, overclock one with Harmonia and it isn't even the same phone. The same will happen with the Black.

I guess I don't consider the SD card as part of the phone's internal memory, just the 2 (2.87?) GB that the phone has "natively," so to speak. To me, an SD card is external memory, but it's all in the interpretation! Anyway, sorry your experience with the phone was disappointing. Here's hoping that Leslie Ann is correct about the performance improvements that will be gained by programming the phone with a custom ROM and overclock.

There is, to me, a strange lack of interest in this phone among the Sprint community (and the Android community in general, at least here on Android Central,) so, once it is available on VM, I do hope the VM devs have a bit more enthusiasm for it and actually take the time to develop custom ROMs, etc.

(Then again, maybe all of the people that are ignoring the phone know something about it that I certainly don't. :p )

because their is bigger and better (more powerful) phones out there for other providers. if the black comes to vm it will b twice as good as anything we have. and once its rom'd and OC'd twice as good as it was.

It's all relative, on Sprint, the OB is not great for how much it costs (maybe $100 cheaper than a better phone, overall cost of a 2yr contract is over $2000). But OB on VM would be one of the best because there simply aren't many other better phones available right now.

Of course you are right about Sprint having a lot better phone choices than VM does, but I guess I thought that the Optimus Black (Marquee) should have generated some interest - they do have an active forum for the LG Optimus S, after all, and I just thought the Optimus S users might have considered the Marquee to be a worthy upgrade. :)

S users are on contract, as they come off contract you may see more, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
