I have two tablets on the same account ( gmail) for the children. How do I make sure when I download apps and songs on one tablet that they also get mapped/copied onto my other tablet?

The only option I know of would be to install them manually via the browser on to easy of the devices. It's not automatic but at least you can do it with a few clicks instead of having to manually do it on each device.

Hit the play store via a web browser, www.google.com/play, and find an app, hit install and you'll be prompted to install it on a specific device. From there repeat the process for the other devices.
