Have I bricked my phone?

When in the stock recovery, choose "apply:update.zip". If you have CWM flashed, this will take you into it

There's no option to do that. It only says update.zip and when I run it, it says

Failed to verify whole-file signature
signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

I am 99% sure I am rooted and have flashed Clockwork Mod using ROM Manager.

i got that the first couple of times i tried that. try a factory reset from the samsung concole. as far as the drivers goes, uninstall all samsung drivers and related software, restart. create another acount in windows, make sure its an admin account. reinstall the drivers, then plug your phone into a DIFFERENT USB PORT. this will cause windows to reapply the drivers to a different com port which fixes many driver issues. to get to where you want to be you really need to have a good working cwm. as long as cwm is on there, you can drop the roms and kernels on the sd card and flash from cwm. cwm is the magic that can save the day.

Unfrtunately you can't flash CWM with ROM Manager, it has to be done with Odin. So there is your problem

Do you have a file named update.zip on your SD card? That's where CWM lives. If not you can get it here.

hey defensa24, any luck. did you get any sleep? i know when i was trying to fix mine i was up til 12 or 1 for three nights in a row.

Got a question that maybe someone can help me with. I accidentaly flashed a Rom for a GT-I9000 Galaxy S on my Fascinate and now its stuck in boot mode with just the Galaxy S logo. Tried pulling battery, factory reset, odin (but it doesnt see my phone), and droid explorer but can not get it to load any other ROM. Do you think I can load a rom on my SDHC card using a reader through my PC and save it to update.zip file and then load it from the manual screen on my phone? I can get into the manual load screen but thats about it. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that will work as long as clockwork is installed you should be good to go. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you should not name it update.zip the update .zip the file is what will open clock work from there you select the new rom from sd card

Thanks gunnermike53. When I get home I'm going to give it a shot. I do have clockwork installed its just when I tried to do the update.zip I get the E: type error. I was going to reinstall update.zip on my sd card and see what happens.

There is a link earlier in this thread to a good update.zip and good Tom and kernel. You will want to put them on your sd card too. Let me know what happens.

Factory reset and cache wipe from Samsung recovery. Then try it again.

that doesnt make any sence. dont give up though.

i say this based on my 10 years of working with computers and other various eletronics not on my experiance (or lack of) experiance with droids, but it sounds like the cwm flash was damaged somehow. somebody pipe in if im wrong on this. i think you need to concentrate on getting clockwork fixed and that probably means getting your computer to recognize your phone. you may try loading the drivers of the gt i9000. that is a long shot though.

lets see if we can find another way of loading clockwork.

Power off, pull battery, hold volume down button and plug in USB.
Open Odin.
Flash the file linked in this post using the PDA button.

This will take you back to complete, out of the box, stock
