Have You Gotten KitKat 4.? Thread

And from what I see of those "pretty colours" the white on multicoloured background labels are hard to read. I much prefer non-pretty screens that are totally functional...and keyboards that don't go goofy when you click on them - and GPS that works all the time not just sometimes.

Why does Android say Kitkat is out for Nexus 7 devices and not give us the OTA.
I really don't understand... Google says it's available, but we have to sideload the new OS ourselves?
Is this just a poor execution of software?

That picture looks so beautiful. I'm waiting for 4.4 on my nexus 4.

I absolutely love the colours in this particular wallpaper. Well, here is the file to ease the waiting game (in case you want it):

Big deal pretty colours. How about they fix it so the GPS works all the time and the keyboard works too?
I can't comment on GPS and keyboard as I did not have these problems. The update DID eliminate the "sticky touch" bug that occasionally plagued my device. I'm also noticing better performance overall. So yes, KitKat is more than just the pretty face. Here is hoping your bugs will be fixed as well!

Do you mean the transparent nav and notification bar? Readability is fine even on colourful or very bright wallpapers as there is a subtle dark gradient at the top and bottom of the screen.

Of course, I 100% agree with you.

Maybe that's why I there not releasing it, because it still has so many bugs.

I sideloaded it last week on both my 2012 & 2013 N7's and I don't have any issues with GPS or using the two different Bluetooth keyboards (Anker & Logitech) that I own. I haven't run into any issues with KitKat other than battery monitor apps not working - they changed the interface and developers haven't caught up yet.

I sideloaded KitKat and the GEL on my Nexus 7 (2013) on Friday evening. Very easy and totally worth it. The hardest part for me was figuring out how to do the command line stuff in Mac OS, since my MacBook Air was the only computer I had available at the time lol

I got bored with waiting, so sideloaded this evening. First time I've done anything like it, but it was easy to do.

Nothing here in Cali yet...

P.S. Its pretty lame if you use a technology forum like this, to spread your anti Obama propaganda. Please stay on topic, or post elsewhere, such as fox news.

I totally agree with you. I'm pretty sure that this is Android forum not politics forum last time I checked.. Geez and why would he even bring up such a sensitive topic on public? Shameful.

P.S. Nothing on my Nexus 10 still..
