Hello everyone, I'm really hoping the geniuses here at the Android Central Forums can shed some light on this issue I'm having with my battery.

Last week, I noticed that when my completely stock & unrooted GSM Galaxy Nexus was docked/charging, the daydream wasn't coming on. I checked and made sure it was switched on, which it was. I didn't give it much thought, and just planned on a reboot fixing it. I undocked, put the phone in my pocket, and minutes later I took my phone from my pocket and when I reached the lock screen I noticed it read "Charging" and the battery display at the top indicated a charging state. Upon further investigation it is now clear that when I dock my Nexus, plug it in, or even use a car charger, it takes several minutes at times for it to begin charging, and as such, the daydream never starts as well. When it is unplugged/undocked, it takes minutes for device to show it has been unplugged. I turned my phone off yesterday, and with the device powered off and unplugged, the screen shows the white battery charging indicator. Not surprisingly a factory reset did not fix the issue. Could it simply be a battery issue or is there something wrong deeper in the system? I am going to be upgrading to the Nexus 4 in a couple weeks and would like my Galaxy Nexus to be working 100%, as I would love to give it to my fiance as a huge upgrade from the POS Straight Talk slider she's currently using.

Thanks for reading, I appreciate everyone's thoughts and input, and hopefully we can get this issue figured out because it is QUITE annoying!

Thanks!

I briefly had this problem with my Gnex. I did a battery pull, changed the battery and it fixed the problem. Hope it works for you. I did not have to do a factory reset.

If your problem wasn't fixed, it's because it's a physical hardware problem. The galaxy Nexus from Samsung has this issue. The little tab inside your micro usb port is pushed too far down, accidentally touching the bottom of the phone. You need to very gently take a knife, pair of tweezers, whatever, and push that tab (or tongue) back up slightly. I'm sure this sounds crazy, but it's an infamous problem with this phone. If you Google Samsung galaxy Nexus charging issues, you'll find whole forums dedicated to it. I had the issue as well on my first galaxy Nexus. The AC forums here has my old post about it somewhere in the depths of this forum. Since I've made that post, several others have cropped up too. Anyway, let me know (by PM, otherwise I'll probably never see the reply) if you need further assistance.

So the "male" tab of the usb port? I can take a look, but it appears the usb charger snaps into place properly each time. But thanks, I will take a look.
