Having App Issues (Crashing or not loading at startup)

This has mainly been on three apps in particular: Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Clash of Clans.
I've done the usual bits to try and fix the issue, including updating, redownloading, wiping, setting the phone to factory defaults, and booting the phone in Safe mode. Safe mode didn't do much as third-party software isn't allowed.

Is this a firmware problem? Any advice on how to fix it?

Welcome to Android Central! Did this start after a recent system update, or after updates to the apps themselves? Are they all being installed through Google Play, or some other source?

May I know what Android version you are in...?? you are downloading from google play or have you sideloaded them..??
and is it happening in the stock ROM,..is it rooted ??-not rooted..?? or in a different ,flashed ROM...!! if so ,then please provide the ROM details..
have you tried uninstalling the apps...and then wiping drive cache from the recovery ...and installing back again...??

I'm running Android 5.1, un-rooted, and using Google Play. All of these Apps have been updated several times since the problem started and the updates haven't really helped. Recently (as in this morning), Facebook Messenger has started working again while Clash of Clans has a small chance of booting up all the way. Facebook is still unresponsive. I've tried uninstalling and wiping the drive cache from recovery and installing again. There hasn't been a system update for my phone recently. I've only had this HTC Desire for about 3 months now.

Is your Android System Webview app up to date? If not, make sure you update it. But if it is already updated, then try uninstalling updates, because there have been issues in the past with Android System Webview updates causing problems with certain devices.

Sorry to know that...please try installing old versions....

Support seems horrible for some devices in android world...

Hope the developers fix that in coming versions....well i got to know that there might be an Android 6.0+ Sense 7.0 update for HTC Desire 526 in Q2 2016... let's hope that happens and thus solves it permanently..
Till then try installing different versions of the apps which are crashing...

uptodown.com have secured apps of many old versions....
There are many old versions of Facebook...see if which one works..
