Having troubl with gmail, please help thx

New to the droid world. Came from a blackberry and now to the droid x. I cant receive any gmail messages unless i refresh the gmail myself. Is there an option or something which will automatically let me receive my emails as soon as people send them?? Help please, this is frustrating the heck out of me.

open gmail app, hit menu, hit accounts, hit menu again, account settings. make sure auto sync is on

np I had that happen to me once when I turned data off, so if you do that make sure you go back and turn auto sync back on.
