Having trouble deleting an app

I down loaded a few to try out and one of them simply will not delete.The other two I did not like deleted on the first try. Am I doing something wrong? Are there multiple ways to delete? I have been long clicking till it turns green then dragging it down to where it says remove.

Go to the market and find an uninstaller...they work great....

I have just been going to the downloads tab in market place and uninstalling from there.

What you've just described is not uninstalling an app. Pressing down on a widget or icon on one of the homescreens, and dragging it to the garbage bin simply removes the icon or widgets presence from the homescreen. To uninstall, it's easiest to open the market, click menu, then downloads, click the app you wish to uninstall, and then click the uninstall button. You can also open settings>manage applications and uninstall from there. No uninstaller app is necessary.
