Having trouble with messenger plus allowing me to correct misspelled words or phrases

On my LG vista if I misspelled a word or a phrase didn't fit it Would-be underlined and I could tap on that and it would give me options to fix it now whenever I do that with my Galaxy 8S plus it doesn't allow me to do anything in fact it just takes the The line off that's it I have to totally fixed it by myself what can I do to get this to work like that again
