HBO GO on TV w/ HDMI

I was trying to watch some TV shows on my TV through my phone using the Mini HDMI cable and You could see it start but then an error message would pop up and say there was a video error and to disconnect the cable. Is there app/setting that I need to get before I can watch these shows on my TV via me Charge?

I don't think so. Some apps wont let you use the hdmi out. hbo to go, nfl mobile app ( wont let me use the hdmi out for the redzone channel. love that channel ), and that media app that came with the phone but disappeared with gingerbread wont work. However netflix and whatever movies you convert and put on your sd card work fine. If there is a workaround for it I haven't heard of it.
I don't think rooting it would make a difference.
