hdmi and amazon issue

I purchased a hdmi cable but when watching a movie on the tablet , if i plug it into the tv, the video crashes. Usually the screen goes black and the browser freezes. If i exit the browser ill still hear audio. Only rebooting fixes the issue.

This happens when im watching videos i bought on amazon. Today it crashed on starz.com. would a bad cable cause this?

It actually happens when i try to go to full screen watching a film on amazon. Browser continues to play but no buttons on browser work. So frustrating.
