HDMI

I got my cables from monoprice recently too. Just tried it out last night. No luck. VIdeos don't work, and it locks up my Evo.

It's not even doing that for me. Tv says no signal and the Evo just pretends it doesn't have a 10ft hdmi cable attached. Think it might be the cables? You have another Evo to try it on? I'm gonna try and get my friends tonight and try it out

I have a 10ft Cable from Monoprice and when I plug it in, my EVO reboots for some odd reason. Does not work. Good thing i live about 15 minutes away from Monoprice

I don't have another Evo to try it on unfortunately. I tried 4 times...each time same thing...plug in, nothing happens on tv, evo stays locked on video and I can't switch screens or close it out(forcing me to pull the battery).

It might be the cables. Seems like most of us got it from monoprice.

My first guess is that its the CABLE! i bought the same Amzer cable and didnt work on any of my 3 tvs (DLP, LCD, or Plasma). I will bite the bullet and buy another cable from SPRINT store. If that doesnt work, i'll rule it to be a faulty EVO.

Well I dunno what the hell happened but now it works every time. Problem is there's no audio.... Sigh... very frustrating..

So got my cable today from Monoprice and I'm not getting any picture or sound. Just a no signal displayed. Funny thing is when I plugged it in my TV recognized something and asked to switch to that input.

No one has mentioned this yet, but I wonder if it might not be the video resolution setting on your EVO. In the settings, under display: video out through HDMI, what are yours set to? The options are: automatic (could be a problem if incorrect video handshake with your TV), 720p, and 480p. Try selecting 720, then 480, and let us know.

I forgot about that setting. It was on automatic so I tried both 720p and 480p and neither worked. I have an LG LCD. I'll give it a try on my friend's Sony LCD.

So got some good news and some bad news. It worked on my friend's Sony LCD. However, the cable has a weak connection to the EVO so I had to constantly keep the end a little bent or try to not touch it. So that gets me thinking that maybe it was just the connection and not my TV. I'll have to try it again. Oh and videos on my phone and YouTube work but photo sideshows didn't.

I tried it on my laptop that has a HDMI port. No response at all but I don't know if that's because the HDMI port on my laptop will only send hdmi and not receive. If anyone knows how I can check let me kno...

Still no sound btw on my TV. Video works great. I'm actually surprised it looked pretty good... Would be nice if I can hear stuff though!!

I bought a cheap Ebay cable that's 4 feet long. It works fine. For what it is, you tube only!
I would buy a short cable and go try it on different models. I use the automatic setting. Find some reason to browse sets at a store.
Wiki the hdmi specs, there may be a max cable length.

For all of you that are having issues, and are not having issues, can you please state what ROM/software version you are using?

My cable works fine. Bought on eBay and using stock froyo. I have played YouTube, personal videos and NFL app. All works good on my Sharp aquious. Or how ever you spell it. When I plug in the cable nothing happens until I put the tv on the right input. Then my EVO launches the hdmi software.

Sent from my EVO using Taptalk Pro.

I just tried it again on my HD monitor and it works. Apparently it only works with certain video(youtube, camcorder recordings). Audio and video came in clear. I don't have any other media on my sd card, but I tried streaming video and using Live TV app, and those didn't work at all.

Is anyone else's HDMI cable not fit snug in the port and is really lose? I'm still getting no audio.. It's really really lose. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but I have to admit this is really bothering me...

You mean loose and lose right? That's pretty much how I was describing the connection in my previous post. I have to kind of hold it in position or when it connects try not to touch it. I tried it again on my LG LCD and it does work but it's really hard to keep it connected. For you, however, I have no clue why you have no sound except for maybe something simple. Perhaps your media volume is all the way down but I doubt it of course.

Works fine for me, running a 5 foot cable purchased from a Sprint store. Running Fresh 3.1.0.2 Audio and Video both work
