He S6 edge, HELP!

I'm a veteran android noob...

I'd like to think of myself as a patient man when it comes to bugs on electronics. I can't say the same for my wife, who I recently converted into an android user (s6 edge ). She's been with iPhone since the 4 and what she loved the most was the simplicity of the sync process with her macbook and the picture/video quality.
She loves the S6 quality, but doesn't like:

-She cannot transfer her media (pics, video, etc) because Android file transfer isn't working
-samsung keyboard (any suggestions)

Every three days she likes import all her pics and video, and the only way that I've been able to do this is to manually import via Dropbox.
***Don't want camera upload On.
Samsung Kies sucks
Any other way to just drag and drop to a Finder window (Mac)?

I have questions about the launchers on the S6 too.
When I was on the the Nexus 5 I went ahead and purchased the premier KK Launcher, and it was amazing. So many features. I was also allowed to use it in conjunction with Google Now (launcher). I really enjoyed reading the recommended stories, calender events, etc. that Google Now offered. Now on Lollipop you have to choose one or the other. Is there an option to run KK Launcher, but still be able to use the Google Now Feature for my events, stories, etc? I also like the new Touchwiz launcher, which I am currently using. I hear great things about the nova launcher too. I don't mind paying for a launcher to support the developers and have extra perks.
Another annoying issue is when my phone is locked and I go to pick it up, it will often vibrate. Weird.
The SELECT KEYBOARD always pops up in the top of the screen too. How do you disable this?
Speaking of the keyboard - when I go to hit symbol, more times than not, it will pull open that mini menu (grey) screen from the side. Can you disable this?

We're still getting used to the Android/Lollipop so bare with us.

Any help/suggestions are very much appreciated!

OK let's go throught this. Regarding transferring pics, I don't have a mac, so I'm not sure if this would work. But I find the easiest, quickest thing to do is to plug the phone in to my PC with a USB cable. Then I can open the phone's files right on my computer, and copy/paste or cut to my hearts content very quickly. I do this when I want to move pics from my phone to my PC and vice versa. Quick and easy. But I wouldn't have the foggiest how to do this on a mac.

Keyboard: There are lots of third party keyboards. I love SWYPE but not everybody does.

I have no experience with third party launchers so cant help you there.

Vibrating when you pick it up is because you have a notification.

No way to disable Select Keyboard without rooting the phone. I agree, it's incredibly annoying.

I really like SwiftKey keyboard. Maybe it's just because I got used to it, but I don't have as hard of a time hitting the correct keys and it does a good job of learning my words so it corrects common mistakes automatically.

I'm currently using TouchWiz and don't have any issues so I haven't tried any other launchers yet, but Nova launcher seems to be the most popular so if I were to try one, I'd start there.

The select keyboard should only be on the notification tray when a keyboard is actually on the screen. It shouldn't be there all the time. As far as I know there is no way to disable this. I agree it is a slight nuisance as changing keyboards probably isn't a common thing for people.
