My wife has the new VZW GS3 and I am looking at doing a surprise trip for the Olympics. I have not traveled overseas before with the need of having a phone or data. My thoughts are just keeping the phone in Airplane mode and jumping on hotspots and having a Google Voice Number ring through. Has anyone had any experience with this and if it would be counted as international calling or not?
Regarding data service. Does anyone know if the phone would take a prepaid SIM so I can use data regardless of location or if I would need to continue finding hot spots? I would like to use Google maps on the trip and want to look at my options with that.
