Heart rate monitor during exercise?

I'm intrigued by the Gear S. Does anyone know yet whether the heart rate monitor works well during exercise, unlike the Gear Fit?

i just got the gear s sat. but went for a ride and used Endomondo and it gave me a heartrate monitor readout which is consistent with whose I've seen with other apps.

Yes, it is not as good a HR monitor as your typical chest strap, and frankly there are better optical monitors out there, but they tend to be in dedicated sports watches.

The S does a reasonable job. However, the exercise apps do seem to be some of the biggest battery drains. If you really want a good exercise watch I'd be more likely to go with something in that space. Personally on rides I have the S on my wrist for communication, but use the Garmin mounted on the bike for tracking.

My wife sometimes caries the S with her on runs, but the Garmin is on the wrist, and the s in a pouch just in case.

My Fit worked fine, about as accurate as my Nike hrm watch. S is just as good for me.
If you find inaccurate readings you can turn the watch (Fit or S) so the face is on the underside of your wrist.

I use mine during bball and it works great as long as it make it a little tighter than i normally wear it
