Heart Rate Monitoring Question

I must be missing something. My Gear S3 will take heart rate readings only when I’m resting. If I’m doing anything at all, no heart rate monitoring. If I’m exercising, and the watch realizes I’m exercising and starts recording the workout, no heart rate monitoring.

This is the most *** backwards thing I have ever seen on a piece of technology. It’s like designing a tachometer on a car to only work up to 500 rpms, which is exactly when you don’t need it.

What am I missing? I have the Auto HR setting on.

I have read where the watch must not move on your wrist while it is taking the reading.

I have not seen any info as to improvements to heart rate monitoring with an impending software or firmware update. Improvements and fixes can come in many forms, some near meaningless and some that will make this watch actually useful for heart rate monitoring.

Can you please provide a link to your info?

I don't recall. but I think it was on one of the formal published reviews and/or on a Samsung page.

Especially considering the last update added significant options to the HR monitoring.
