Hello android central!

I am a current iphone 4 user and I am ready to make the switch! I have an upgrade in january on verizon and must remain on verizon because i am 17 and the parents pay the bills lol. I was hoping to get a nexus 4 but now that is not looking so good . I am pretty tech-savvy and i plan to root my phone and install ROMS and i really want an android phone that is easy to do that on. I heard nexus phones were the best option for this. Any suggestions on phones would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome. To me, nexus phones are about the latest software with no bloat ware on it. Many people do use nexus phones for rooting, but many just use them to get the latest and greatest choices of software from Google (unlike the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon). Any phone is generally "good" for rooting.
