Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm not the brightest bulb, but not the dimmest either. I currently have a BB Storm2 and at the end of November I get to upgrade. I want a Droid (I have Verizon). Global use does not interest me. I am torn between the Bionic and the Incredible 2. the I2 is cheaper ( and we don't have 4g where I live so that isn't an issue)
I have so many questions that I'm afraid to ask. but if you will indulge me I'd appreciate it (or direct me where to properly post this).
the Bionic seems to have faster everything 1GHz dual-core chip along with 1GB of DDR2 RAM then the I2, so I'm leaning towards that. What scares me is some of the reviews I've read on the Bionic. One claims that the touch screen is very sensitive and the calibration is off. another says that you have to download one app at a time to make sure they work with other apps i.e. he said that after downloading netflix, he can't get onto Facebook.
I am no programing genius and the rooting of my phone or the need to root the system (?) scares me. I want a simple interface, but I don't want an IPhone. I don't like the initial look of the Bionic or the I2, and would like to be able to customize it and change it by adding my own personal icons to my home screen with folders added for music, pictures, applications that I don't readily use, etc. Can this be done without rooting my system? I like the idea of an open OS, but I certainly don't want to screw anything up by tinkering too much.
Also, on my BB phone, there is an application called app world. it basically lets you download apps straight to your phone without using your computer to log on to an app store. I love that feature. does the Droid platform have an app like that or do you have to go to the application store on your computer and download them from there?
I have so many other questions, but I fear I will get nothing but hate mail if I continue. the Bionic is a hundred dollars more than the I2, and I am very broke. with that last statment in mind, would you recommend I go for the I2? I am so excited to get rid of my BB (it has served me well, but I'm ready for an upgrade) and would love to spend hours asking questions, but for now I'll thank you kindly and thanks for reading this far.
