I currently have the Verizon G3, which is rooted and have TWRP for recovery. I have been so impressed with its longevity (still have original battery)and top notch performance, I haven't been motivated to upgrade to the G4 or the G5. I was curious as to whether it would be a benefit to flash back to LG's stock ROM, remove root and upgrade to Marshmallow, which I assume would have the latest security updates. (I did disable OTA updates from Verizon) I've flashed other ROM's to try out, but always reverted back to the stock ROM. Anyone with a G3 on Marshmallow see the benefits over Lollipop, let me know, thanks!

I don't have Marshmallow on mine, but on modern, non-carrier-locked phones, I personally have never seen any reason to root. Just me. :)

IMHO don't go back to verizon stock software ever again... i have a vs985 as well, rooted with TWRP, and i istalled Fulmics ROM, that is already on MM 6.0.1, and its completely based on stock of the international version, which will enable the use of Mobile hotspot if you are not on verizon network it will also eliminate every software tracce of verizon from your phone.

I am with T-Mobile and boy, this sucks! Marshmallow does not appear that will ever be released under this carrier.

Orlan 2, thanks Bud! I will give that ROM a try. My wife has the G4, which does take superior quality photos for sure, but my G3 is paid for and so hard to give up! With this ROM suggestion, looks like I'm good for another year and check out the G6...
