Hi everyone. I seem to be "tech challenged" so I decided to join a place where most people are probably a lot smarter than I am on phones. I have a Moto G5 Plus. I would like to know how to do several things, but I can't even figure out how to keep the video recording when the screen turns off. lol Stuff like that us probably child's play for you guys.

Hopefully I will be learning a few things. :)

Welcome. :)

We all start knowing nothing, then progress to knowing something. I don't suppose that anyone knows everything.
Enjoy the forums.

Hello and welcome to the forums at Android Central!
You'll find many members willing to help.

Welcome to the AC Forums! As for your particular problem, it depends on the app but most apps (especially stock) cannot keep recording after the screen has been turned off (both for security reasons to keep apps from accessing the camera while the phone is asleep and to avoid questionable recordings that 3rd parties might not know or have approved of). At most, you can lower the brightness of your screen to the very minimum.

Hello and welcome to the forums. We are a friendly bunch here and willing to help wherever we can. We all know technologically challenged people and the purpose of this place is to make people feel like they can ask the most basic or complex of questions and someone, somewhere may be able to help you.

Just ask. The only thing we really ask for is that if you ask a question do come back for the answers.

Welcome to Android Central! Don't worry, we were all new to Android once! Enjoy yourself around the forums - and feel free to ask away!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Yes, I have the stock video app. I don't know of any alternatives. I will see if I can find a way to keep the screen on & just turn it down. Here in Michigan only one person in the conversation (like me) needs to know the conversation is being recorded. I have a pretty nasty, vicious, violent drug dealer next door that tried to run my dog over because I wouldn't do as I was "told" & I think my last dog was poisoned just for fun by someone over there. I have been repeatedly threatened too. Now I just want to try to get an admission(s) recorded if at all possible to start building a court case. I need video because with audio I know I will get a "that isn't me" response.

Technically, we aren't supposed to give legal advice, but careful about recordings. If you are in a two way state, the fact that a recording isn't disclosed can be dismissed.
