Hello everyone, looking to do a little extra with my phone, but am not really up to date with the technology involved in these new "smart phones"

I have an optimis S, looking to install like a new Windows 7 Theme on it, but says I have to be rooted. So, looking to root my phone the easiest way..does anyone have a good write up available and some helpful tips for myself along the way?
