The reason I am writing is to ask a simple question:
I've been an iPhone user for the last 3~4 years. Just recently the local Samsung office launched a buyback program buying back used phones of any make or model as means to give people a discount towards their new Samsung device.
I have an iPhone 6 I've been using for almost a year. I upgraded from iPhone 5 because it seemed the most logical upgrade at the time. It is a fantastic phone, have had little to no problems with it but there's one thing - it's utterly boring and has to be babied a lot because of the bentgate, and it feels quite fragile to begin with.
Hitherto owning an iPhone I'd used a range of different Android phones. The first one I had was LG GW620, which was, frankly speaking, a piece of ****, aside from its prime physical keyboard, LG never updated it past Android 1.5 via an official upgrade, and besides that I had to turn it into service repairs for quite a number of times, until promptly dying off from old age. Next one was the original Samsung Galaxy Plus, which was everything the first one was minus the keyboard. Next one was, though not an Android, my first smartphone I was happy with, Nokia Lumia 920, which lasted for almost two years and was passed down to my sister. It was just good, not excellent, but did everything I'd expect a phone would do.
After a few years, I upgraded to my first iPhone, the iPhone 5. It was and is the best phone I've ever used. Aside from drying of battery cells what is to be expected with use I had never a complaint with it. Until a almost a year ago I decided an iPhone 6 a go. It is a good phone, don't get me wrong, but as I stated it's boring as it comes. It didn't upgrade anything outside being generally a bigger phone, so it was a let down.
Now my local Samsungs' have announced they are going to buy it for towards 500 euros if I buy a new Samsung device, which is an interesting option but as I've been buggered by the quality of Android phones, I am a little reluctant to make this move.
The options they are offering are:
Samsung Galaxy S6,
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Edge Plus,
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (not 5) and Note Edge,
Some tablets and Wearables.
I've been eyeing the Edge Plus which comes close to the iPhone in terms of design and is a big phone which'd be perfect for my giant palms.
It costs 750 euros for the 32Gb variation which would mean that I have to pull 250 euros out of my pocket if they appraise my phone for 500 (which they should because it's in prime condition).
I'd like your opinions on this trade-in. I am looking for a big and good looking phone, not a games guy, just want something fashionable yet practical for everyday use. I'd appreciate any input, guys.
