My AT&T LG V20 got Oreo last week and I've already called AT&T and LG tech support. The minor issues were, kind of, resolved...
1. Camera app kept stopping(needed to clear cache)
2. Rapid battery drain(tried to blame it on my brand new battery smh) and still no answer
3. Missing app(application manager)

I used Application Manager to kill apps that liked to constantly run in the background and eat battery. It was a simple and effective 1-click answer.

So, AT&T and LG decided to remove it from the Oreo update and when I asked AT&T, they didn't know which app I was talking about. LG had a similar response, although I was told they will send off a customer complaint about its removal from Oreo.

I did find it funny that when inquiring about it, neither seemed to know which app I was talking about and yet they knew it had been removed from the Oreo update. AND, the LG website makes reference to the app and its use, but is now removed.

SO... is there an APK for this app? I even told LG I would pay them for the app to no avail.

TIA

1. About the camera crashing, after OS updates it's recommended that you clear the cache from the Android recovery menu. Factory resetting is probably the best option in terms of optimal performance (starting fresh again).

2. Rapid battery drain: check the battery usage and see what is draining the battery. Usually, Android takes several days or weeks to recognize your daily habits, which then optimizes the phone according to your habits/apps usage. This is normal, you need to give it a few days/weeks. Doze mode is a built-in feature first introduced on Android Nougat and it kicks in when idle, it needs to know what apps you typically use the most first. Since you recently installed a new OS, it has to do it again.

3. Application Manager? Are you sure that's an LG specific app or carrier app (in this case, AT&T)? AT&T is infamous for changing/removing features with their OTA updates.. (maybe because they WANT your phone to drain the battery faster and not have optimal battery so you will have to give up your old phone and buy a new one... OR they simply decided to remove it, just because and for no reason). I did warn everyone that once you update, you cannot revert back. The carrier can do whatever they want and if they want to remove features, that's them..

HOWEVER don't be alarmed, download GREENIFY, it's 100% free and you can hibernate apps when not in use. I use it all the time and the widget shortcut shuts down apps quickly, freeing up RAM and conserving the battery life. Tip: only use it manually, don't use the auto hibernation mode. You can also move the widget shortcut to the 2nd screen display on the V20 and quickly press the button when needed to.

Here is a screenshot of the LG management folder, I don't see any management app you're talking about:

This is what Greenify looks like, you press the button and then it automatically shuts down apps you aren't using at the moment:

I've had my AT&T V20 almost two years and I'm not sure what Application Manager is/was?

Every Android device should have it in the main settings. I don't have Oreo yet, but I'd be rather surprised if that core feature was removed.
