Ok, here it is..I rooted my phone with unrevoke but then unrooted well I didn't make a backup and now am screwed but I hope not. I need help and have read everything I can but can't seem to figure this out so this is where I am at..I somehow don't have anything on my phone and my scdard needs formatted..I have a card reader. First, what's the best program to format my scdard so it shows more than 200mb cause Windows won't let me do more. Next, after I format my card what are the exact files i need to put on card so that my phone will read it and where do find them and what are the steps. Please help and yes I'm a noob but once I figure this out it will make a lot more sense. Call, reply to thread anything someone plz.

Is the problem that your phone isn't booting up, or that you've lost data?

It's really hard to brick an Evo. Almost certainly the worst case is that you'll need to run RUU to just return the phone to a fresh-out-of-the-box state and you'd need to set it up again...and remember to backup next time.

Like thefredelement says, we need a more complete idea of what the problem is to offer good advice. Like:
  • Does your phone turn on at all?
  • Does it boot to Android?
  • If it won't boot to Android, try turning it off, then holding down both the volume down and power buttons - do you eventually get to the bootloader screen?

If the phone boots up, but the problem is you've lost your data...a lot of it is probably either on your sdcard, or on the web with various services associated with each application. Reinstall your apps and you might be surprised how much data comes back.

Why do you think you need to reformat your SD card? What are you seeing there to make you want to do that? Chances are there's a lot of data there you might want, so I wouldn't do that before trying to recover anything on there.

Somehow I pushed erase somewhere and.I have nothing on my sdcard now so I'm trying to start fresh with it..my phone only goes to the boot screen aka faststart, bootloader, that stuff..won't actually go into the phone where I can call out or anything.

Go online to HTC.com and download the latest update and put it on your memory card. Even if for some reason it only shows 200mb, the Evo updates ain't that big. You have enough room to put it on there, hold the down volume key and start the phone up. The from there it should let you run the update and flash your Evo back to operation.

im guessing since u use unrevoked u do not know how to adb push?, if you do try pushing a rom to your phone if its still rooted so you can flash that from recovery and hopefully it should work

Once I.get back to a computer ill try the HTC.com thing and see if my phone will pick it up...as far as adb push haven't used it but if I have to learn it today so be it..will follow up after the flash from HTC.com..hope that works but doesn't seem like it would..guess will see

Do you have a PC or a MAC?

If you have a PC, download and run this file:

*OFFICIAL* RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.29.651.5_Radio_2.15. 00.09.01_NV_1.77_CNV_re - xda-developers

with your phone sitting in hboot, if you need to though, turn the phone off and charge the battery before you start this.

That is a RUU, or rom update utility that will hopefully restore your phone to factory, from there you can format the SD card from within the Evo, if it's still a problem we can get it back with some commands but lets take care of one thing at a time.

Downside with the ruu is my computer won't recognize the phone so not.sure how to get the computer to put it in the phone with it hooked up. No usb found .

Do you have HTC sync installed? I'm not sure if you need this or not, but I know that I do have it installed and have successfully used the RUU.

Not sure why, but the RUU just doesn't work for some people. I am one of those. I tried it on 2 different computers and couldn't get it to work. I'm guessing it has something to do with some other software on the computer interfering with it.

If you can't get it to work, then you can try this.

First, download this file:

PC36IMG.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Then you need to get it on your SD card. Use a card reader and put it on directly from your computer if you can. Or you can use ADB push, it's not hard to learn if you need to. You just need to get that file on your SD card somehow. Don't extract it, just put the entire zip file directly on the root of your SD card. (not in any file folders)

Once it's on your SD card, boot into HBOOT by holding the volume down and power buttons. It will then look for this file and load it. (this will take a couple minutes) When it's done loading, it will ask if you want to update. Use the volume button to select yes and push the power button. When it's done updating, reboot and you should be working. You will have a completely stock, unrooted system.

The OP is having a problem where they can't see more than 200MB on their phone.

OP, are you able to access a custom recovery? Maybe if you can, you can format the SD card from within the recovery and then mount it to USB so you can copy the file mentioned above.

I've done the pc356.mg thing but when I open it and run it it says no image on SD card.

the file is suppose to be called

PC36IMG.zip

Minus the .ZIP thats just the file extension

if its just PC36.IMG thats wrong

ok..about to download that zip file and see what happens...guess will try this and then see where I go from here..

so here is something I don't know if it should be happening..but after I download the zip file it says compressed failed(in the download bar)..am I missing something?? but moving to sd card now and will follow up on what I am getting

so far so good...sorry for the timeline of events but it is doing something...if this works I owe someone a drink..lol...I swear i thought I was doing this before but guess not...but it hasn't doing this much yet with anything I've done so this is a plus..**crossing fingers**

Ok...so the VERDICT..."IT WORKS!!!" Holy crap..I love android guys..I really need to get to studying more of this stuff. Sad part is I'm in college for computer science..man, stuff is changing fast...so biggest question for me now is...do I leave this zip file on my sd card for further fixes if I have this problem again or do I delete it??? Thanks again to all the feedback..
