I've had my Incredible a few days and it's been awesome. However, suddenly today I can't get any 'search' buttons in the browser to work.

If I type an address directly in the url bar I can view any page. I can also type my search terms in any search box - like at google, bestbuy, or wikipedia. However, when I click on the 'search' or 'go' buttons, nothing happens. They turn green and look like they activate, but the page goes nowhere.

I've tried reloading pages, trying different sites, and just leaving it alone for a while - this has now been going on for several hours, on both the 3G and my home wifi.

Any tips? I'm still running the default browser and have made no modifications to it. I'm not sure how or if I should try to force kill or restart the browser, or what.

Thank you - I tried those, but no improvement. I noticed the google homepage won't fully load now, it hangs halfway.

airplane mode

Try disabling all wireless connections and then re-enabling them. The easiest way to do this is to go to menu->settings->wireless & networks and check airplane mode. Wait a few seconds until the airplane icon appears next to the battery...then uncheck airplane mode.

I just tried going to airplane. Left it in airplane mode for a few minutes, then re-connected. It reconnected to my wifi with no problem and loaded wikipedia, but still will not search. Pressing 'enter' after my search terms also does not activate a search.

I also just tried a simple web form on my website, and the submit button appears to activate but does not send to the processing script or load a new page. This seems to be a problem with form buttons?

Except that the google mobile page still only partially loads. Google classic loads fine, just doesn't submit.

I just tried installing opera mini 5 beta, and searching works fine from there. However, the pinch function isn't supported in opera, so I'm not that fond.

I'm thinking, uninstall and reinstall the default browser? I just don't know how.
thanks for any help.

Your data isn't going through, that's all. Turn mobile data off for a few seconds and then back on. When you see the 3G/Wifi symbol and up and down arrows light up white, then you're good to go. You might have to restart the browser. Happens to me a lot.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, I have tried turning off connectivity and the browser, and it did not fix. I am getting some data in and out, as I'm able to go to new websites (not cached) and click on standard links. Just now working forms.

ive had the same issue, i was in the boston area at the time in a well covered 3g area but still the stock browser would hang without loading. I rebooted and it was ok for a bit but started acting up again.

Try hitting menu when the browser is on, then seeing how many windows you have open. I Think the Incredible can only handle a certain number of pages open at once.

On a side note, you might want to check out Xscope browser. It has pinch to zoom, smooth flick scrolling, it doesn't load as quick as OM, but it's close. Tabs, etc. Google it.
No flash support.

Had this happen to me again. So after I thought about what may be causing the problem, I then remembered this. When I had my Moto Droid, I installed ZeusDroid Alpha Desire rom on my phone. To do this I had to partition my 16gb sd card (512mb) and use swap (256mb.) After talking to a Verizon rep about the browser problem I was having on my DI (*didn't tell her about my rooted Droid and installation of custom roms*), we then came to the conclusion that by me taking my sd card out of the Droid and plugging it right into the Incredible, then this could be where my problem is coming from. Since when you're using the browser, it pulls some kind of info. from the sd card. So I formatted my sd card, cleared data, cache, etc... in my browser and then reset the settings to default. This seems to have solved my problem, but I will run it for a few more days to be sure. Hope this helps somebody and save you from the hassle of having to return or exchange your phone because of this problem.
