Hi,

I changed the permissions on system partition from R/O to R/W with the ES File Explorer, to modify the build.prop from my nexus 4 and i forgot to change the perm back to R/O, and i rebooted my phone. Now it wont boot up. can someone help me with some info on what to do in this matter , how can i change back the permissions to R/O. Thanks

You didn't need to do that to edit build prop. What rom are you running?

If you're running on a rom, flash it again trough recovery, otherwise flash the official google image

I dont think it wont boot because you didnt change back permissions to r/o but more likely because the permissions for the file changed once you edited it. If you are on a custom rom just dirty flash it, otherwise youll have to use factory images.

Yeah, or you could try to fix permissions through custom recovery

You probably screwed up the build.prop file and not the permissions your only alternative is to reflash the ROM or you can see if the permissions were the problem by going to recovery-advanced- fix permissions

well i actually had to change the perm from the system part before changing it on the file , otherwise it wouldnt let me . anyway i managed to fix it flashed a custom recovery , and had to change the perm back to 644 on the build.prop file for the phone to boot up again. for some reason i had to change perms back even if i copied the original build.prop file over the modified file. thanks for help

I'm pretty sure I've forgotten to change the es file explorer settings back after messing around with files and it's never prevented me from booting. More likely something else was messed up.
