Help! Evo 3D automatically switching long ways while in 2D camera mode?

I have only had my Htc Evo 3D for about a month now and I love it. But some of the camera features have been driving me crazy. 1st, whenever I go to take a picture the camera automatically tries taking the picture horizontally, causing me to edit the picture which is just a hassle when I wanted to take the picture vertically in the first place. I tried turning the autoswitching feature off, but that did nothing. 2nd, whenever I go to upload a picture to Instagram the whole picture simply will not fit into the window. I have tried making the picture smaller and making the window bigger, but nothing has worked. Lastly, I went to update my Twitter Profile picture today and the thumbnail didn't autofit the whole picture into it. Please help me!
