UPDATE: Still cannot find anything that can show me a reading proving a 1GB ROM in the phone. I now have 2.2 Froyo installed but have the same issue. I've moved some apps to free some room, but either way I could not have used the 1GB rom space!
I hope someone looks at this who has an answer or suggestion. I'm not quite ready to call HTC about it.

Thanks.

I'm beginning to wonder if the way a phone addresses this is different from a PC. I wouldn't think so, but I may be about to ask a stupid question. Please do no make fun :-)

Do I actually have a 1gb ROM (storage) on the phone per the specs?........

I have appx. 175 mb of apps (estimated upward from App Brain count given the apps that are "locked" from there and backup and so forth as I've recently learned).
This is a fair size to report.

This is just the apps since data stores on the SD Card.

The only reading I can find through any system settings or various system apps is regarding RAM. I see I have about the following:

Disk Space - appx. 44mb left out of 427mb
SD Card - appx. 2.7mb out of appx 7.6mb
* The above is a short and sweet widget called MiniInfo.
I can say through much observation that the 44mb number and any changes to it reflect the storage space on the phone as it is the number that changes with app addition and deletion and has a threshold to activate the "Low Storage Space" notification.
* Android System Info says Memory/Data Max 428mb with about 44 free and Total RAM at 394 MB.
* OS Monitor says /system...total 358,400K with 115,476k available
/data...total 437,888K with 45,840K available
* Hardware Info says System RAM at 394MB and reports no other info like that (go figure).
* The phones own settings only say appx 45mb of Internal Phone Storage available.

The specs on the Evo say it has a 1gb of ROM and 512 of RAM.
I understand the "shorter" RAM report due to cache space and other things (I think).

I understand the the OS is going to take a chunk as well as HTC apps and then Sprint stuff, but I cannot see how I seem to have so little space for apps in the on-board storage. I constantly run into the "low disk space" warning and have to decide which apps to delete (and I use most of them regularly with only a few still in comparing/testing mode). I cannot install updates or receive some e-mail syncing if I don't clear space by deleting apps. I have been receiving this warning since shortly after getting the phone and downloading aps.
I've even insured small storage of any mail through the on-board Mail app by syncing only few days of only the inbox (I notice a major drop in the disk space reported earlier when I set these up to work just earlier this week. It went back up when I changed the syncing from 30 days to 7 and freeing space. I was only using gmail before and that was online access only (gmail app).
This low storage (on-board) seems to really mess with the phone and, I think, be partly responsible for constant restarts which tend to happen when I hit a certain threshold for those and not necessarily available memory although that can be a factor at time.
I've already looked through other threads that I could find. The HTC Mail/Memory Leak thread would not appear to apply because I only started using that this week and have been having this problem since getting the phone.

DO I NOT HAVE A PHONE WITH THE FULL 1 GB ROM/STORAGE. All of the numbers that I can find such as those reported above appear contrary to the specs.

ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE is appreciated. I feel like I'm asking a ridiculous question to some degree. I apologize if I'm overlooking the obvious.

As a side note but of less importance, I can't figure where my SD storage is going either. I have about 1.6gb only of music on there and not that many pics. I took those off and moved to the pc already. Video was removed also. I have very few downloads, and certain nothing with a big footprint. With so many folders, it's hard to figure out where the elephant on the SD card is, but out of 8GB....it's crazy.

Thank You.
