Help !! Galaxy S3 Freezing every few minutes. unresponsive.

FYI, I retrieved my GS3 Wednesday. The report says they updated the "software" (it's now running I9300XXEMA2), changed the "module" (which is kind of vague) and the "display module": anyway the screen is indeed new, and it hasn't frozen since, yeepee!

Things "progressed" on my side: the phone entered a reboot loop in the middle of the night, with reboot jingles cycling every ten seconds... I had to remove the battery, and I could not restart my phone since (when pressing volume up + start + power on reboot, the bugroid usually appearing before the admin menu appears just a split second, before it reboots again...)
I called Samsung, I'll leave the phone to one of their technical centers on Monday, hoping to retrieve a working phone afterwards... I'll keep you informed ^^

I was having the same issue.. i just uninstalled the push service update .. hope it works. @RAJKIRAN1909 what do u mean by samsung app? Thanks to all for your help :)

I had the same issue that started yesterday... it happened before in the past, but then I removed the SD card and it stoped.
All I did to get it back working was to remove some data. I had about 3Gb free out of 11 when it was freezing and now I have about 5.
Try it guys and let me know if this works...

To mention that I had my motherboard replaced as it froze on the Samsung Galaxy logo and never came back. So it seems to be an issue with all the Galaxy S3 phones not just a select few. I will probably try rooting the phone and installing a custom ROM to see if I will have the same issues. As I can't say I am not happy with the phone I can say that there are some issues (e.g. phone restarting, freezing, getting really hot for no reason, lagging).
I'll make some time to experiment with the phone and get it to a more usable state and I will let you guys know what the final result will be. Cheers.

I've been suffering freezing issues on my S3 for the past 2 months and have tried all the solutions posted on this forum. Some things made the freezing less recurrent but it still froze 5 - 20 times a day (depending on how much I was using it).

5 days ago I went ahead and installed the EMC2 firmware and can confirm that it has completely gotten rid of any freezing issues and the phone has never been better!
Anyone dealing with any type of freezing issues should install this firmware asap!

My non rooted stock S3 was running XXELLA and I have been having the freezing issue for a couple of months too. Having tried most of the things mentioned here, disabling Samsung apps, SD card, deleting caches, factory reset, installing apps one at a time etc all with no joy. Yesterday I bit the bullet and upgraded the firmware using the process linked to to earlier in this thread and once the firmware was downloaded it only took a few minutes and, touch wood, I have been 24 hours without a freeze. Rather than go backwards on firmware I decided to go forward to the latest official Samsung one I could find which was XXEMD2. I may live to regret speaking too soon, but so far all is looking good and the phone is still not rooted and is running an official Samsung build.

I just tried the previous solution of installing the latest firmware (XXEMD2) and i think it worked like magic (Fingers-crossed). I installed by following steps here

i've been having the same issues as well! its so frustrating! i actually had it fixed when i went to my local cell phone repair store. the guys at repairem.com were fixing the broken screen on my galaxy s3 when i told them about how my phone kept freezing, so one of the techs fixed my software! im not so tech savy, not sure what he did but my phone runs more amazing than ever! thanks to the cool guys at repairem.com!

Hey dude, your gadget freezes again or it's stable now?

Hello everyone,

I have got a german S3 unbranded, factory unlocked.
I have the freezing problems similar to everyone.
My firmware is :-
Android 4.1.2
baseband - I9300XXELL4

As suggested by a member here, I uninstalled all updates to the samsung apps application.
For the last 24 hrs no freezing!

If there is anything new..I will keep you guys posted.:confused::D

Yo guys :) I had the same problem.. my S3 kept freezing and to get everything back to normal I had to pull out the battery and start it up again.

Here's what I did and it worked: i searched for 'Dummy file generator' on the Play store, installed it and then opened it. When your there, just press on 'Generate(FULL)'. That thing will generate a lot of files that will make your phone run out of memory. If it doesn't make it run out of memory, then repeat the prices... press Generate(FULL) again. If the phone freezes during the process, just restart it. After your phone ran out of memory, start the 'Dummy file generator' and press 'Delete'. That thing will delete all the files it created and your memory goes back to normal. That worked for my phone and everything is ok now. Actually it freezed one or two times in 2 days, but not like it did before (:

I hope this will help some of you guys (:

Will report back once I find out what the results are.
I promised to get back to you guys. I sent it off to Samsung for repair with full details of the issue. They sent it to Anovo, but between them they seem to have screwed up most of the info I sent. I wasn't impressed! After 2 weeks and many calls, Anovo said they couldn't find the fault.

However they has applied the latest firmware i9300BUEMC2 and this does seem to have cured it...

Fingers crossed!

Just saw EMD3.on the site where the much recommended emd2 is ... any1 tried it yet? I wanna hop from ELLA straight to EMD3 it's been a week long of torture for me after I updated all my apps via a Wi-Fi connection
