HELP! How to unblock short code messages on Verizon pre-pay phone

[Android Central Question]

Recently switched from Verizon Post-pay to Pre-pay. I have not been able to receive certain text messages which I have been told its because my "short codes" are blocked. Never had this problem when I was on Post pay. No problems receiving texts from my friends, just seems to be companies who used to send me notifications via texts. I have called Verizon several times & still not resolved. I have a SAMSUNG Galaxy S7. Any suggestions?
