help! i want old gtalk!

Hi can someone help me please?
The new gtalk 4.0 on ics is terrible and I want to reinstall the old version.
Can someone out there tell me if I can do this and if so how?
I don't even mind going back to gingerbread.

The only thing I can think of is to search the internet for an old gtalk .apk you can install on your phone.

Yes you would have to uninstall the Gtalk in your device if possible...

This may not be possible if your stock and not rooted...

Then if and when this is accomplished you would have to install the older Gtalk.

I'm not sure how to go about rooting the phone and am worried about ruining it.
I will have to find out more.
