I have downloaded the update twice, and both times it says failed to properly validate. What am I doing wrong??

Are you rooted? If so, unroot. Otherwise, you may need to do a factory reset first, then try to update.

A lot of us got that. You have to do a factory reset.

I did it over wifi and I am rooted.
I also kept root with voodoo OTA root keeper.
Try using wifi.
