Help me decide: V10 or S7 Edge

The V10 is most definitely a flagship any way you cut it. It's also true that the S7 has some newer tech by a matter of months. The G4 is also still a flagship, but it was "new" back in July of 2015. Consider the features. It's not subjective.

"Power" isn't everything. I don't play games much and my G4 (and I assume V10) is as "powerful" as I need.

Not true in the least.

My v10 is every bit as fluid in all aspects as any phone available today. It has not lagged in all of the months I have been using it, as opposed to my note 5 that I gave my wife when I got this one. It was already bogging down.

What software are you talking about.. The OS? Granted I am not on Marshmallow yet, and won't be until my carrier releases it, but I am not really in a hurry to get it either. However that is the only "software" that I am missing..

Overall performance.. Seriously? You obviously don't own a v10 because you would see just how well it preforms. I don't need a synthetic benchmark to prove that this phone is more than capable of handling everything I and the vast majority of people need for a day to day driver..

Name a current phone that offers everything the v10 offers as far as the camera, music playability, removable storage, removable battery in a ruggedized shell that isn't easily cracked or is a finger print magnet that you have to put a case on it just to hang on to...

You sound like a Samsung and Apple fan...

I'm not saying that the v10 is perfect by no means, but saying that it isn't a flagship phone is ludicrous.

Oh but I do own a v10 and have compared it with other flagships and based on my observations , I do find that the v10 is a good phone, but take let's say the galaxy s6 edge plus and the s6 edge plus pounds the v10...

Ha...... s6 pounds it... What a joke. Lagfest city..

How might I ask... And I have owned both the s6 Active and the regular s6. And tried the edge for a week And none could hold a candle to the v10..

Let's do this...

1) Camera... Nope even with the updates for it unless you never take it out of auto mode, and if that's the case for you it really is meaningless for real world abilities of it...

2) High quality Dac... Nope

3) Removable battery... Nope

4) Stainless steel frame.. In your dreams...

5) Non- fingerprint, easily scratched /broken back.. Only s6 variant that has that covered is the Active.. your edge.. Not a chance..

Now we all know by now that synthetic benchmarks are useless to gauge real world day to day results right?

So please enlighten me how the edge pounds the v10 or for that matter any Samsung phone?

Bottom line is none do.. Oh sure it's glass back and curved edges are so..slick.. And easily scratched.. but they don't pound the v10..

So tell me how it's even remotely possible that it's capable of pounding anything...

Exactly what is it lacking to make it so in your opinion?

The problem many people have is that it isn't a iPhone clone... Or a Samsung clone.. And the majority of people I know who have ditched those and actually use one of these on a daily basis are very happy with them.

We all have our own preferences, but a flagship phone is the best the company produces for that generation of devices... And the v10 is this wither your in agreement or not.

I will not buy Samsung because they make the same old phones with updated hardware.

LG makes great phone with OS is where it falls behind. They are almost near last to receive updates.

I got an offer to trade in a smartphone at VZW, and the V10 is what im looking at even though I have a Nexus 6P. I'm still on the old tier plan so I get $25 discount with the payment option and I'll get around 100 for my old smartphone LG G3. Which should make it pretty even and I have a new device.

But I want the v10 for audio and when I travel overseas, I can add the travel roaming plan on the v10 and swap my SIM card back to the 6P.

Benchmark results are as useful as bringing sand to a beach. Especially with specs now, it's just on paper and it looks better. Any SD800 or higher processor is high end device and can handle anything I throw at it. How many of us are actually using it for high end stuff? Many of us are using it for web browsing, social media, media and that's it. A very few actually use it to play high graphic games.

Ok I see your point but LG's decision to go with the snapdragon 808 did hamper the v10's true potential to become the flagship it was meant to be. Sure there were issues with overheating etc with the 810 chipset, but I feel that LG could have used the second itineration of the 810 chipset to give the v10 a bit more longevity until the next model of the v10 comes out(presumably later this year). Giving a phone the best specs at the time helps to give the phone a cushion and in some ways helps to future proof the phone against the rigid competition in the smartphone world. That's the only reason why I feel the v10 isn't the flagship LG could've made it to be...but all this is just my opinion, but if you research, see how well the "flagship" v10 did in sells against the competition- the numbers have to mean something right ???

No the sale numbers don't reflect this phones true potential. LG doesn't have the deep pockets of Samsung or Apple nor do they have the market share. Sales alone isn't indicative of potential....

The 808 vs the 810 is meaningless in the long run. With all the negativity surrounding the 810 those who love to bash the phone would be using that as a excuse to reject it.

Longevity from my perspective is it will be able to do what is needed for a minimum of 2 years. I see no reason for it not doing so.

FWIW my Verizon V10 marshmallow has been speedy quick. If it is lagging I certainly do not notice it, and thats comparing it against my wifes 6S+ on the same network towers and my wifi. If anything my V10 seems faster with the transition animations set to .5.

I do not use battery boosters or RAM boosters. I keep a fair amount of core processes on active standby in RAM. Despite the various bench testing results... mine has been VERY fast and smooth.

I was at the Verizon store over the weekend comparing my V10 against the G5 and two S7 variants, I could not notice anything consistently conclusive in terms of speed differences. Granted its not an apples/apples comparison though with those phones set-up for OEM store demo OS.

Right I agree that the v10 can and will hold its own now in the near future, but I just feel that LG missed the mark a bit with the v10. It's still a great phone and I own one in lux white and I like it very much, but it still comes up a bit short in the power category

For me, I'd pick the V10. I have the Note 5 and the V10, and I use the V10 consistently more. I like the bigger screen, the better audio, and better photography results. For me the s7 is too small, and the edge is a gimmick that detracts from the screen.

Can't tell about S7 but against an S6, V10 has only 2 advantages: larger screen and better camera, far better at nighttime. In every other aspect, S6 is a superior phone, mainly radio stack and battery life. I'd expect S7 to exceed S6 in this comparison.

I have the V10 and I would suggest that, but I am biased towards the Galaxy brand. Get rid of TouchWiz and I might change my mind.
